Some residents in Cranbrook might see discolouration in their water while work is ongoing, but the City says it is not a health concern.

Included in this round of water main flushing are homes along 3rd Street South to 11th Street South between 27th Ave South and 34th Ave South.

Work is expected to take place over the next couple of months and will occur between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday to Friday.

"Most customers may experience discolouration in the water for a short period while this flushing work is done," says the City of Cranbrook in a press release. "If you do have discolouration, please run your cold water tap until the water runs clear. This discolouration is not a public health concern."

The annual flushing program helps to ensure water mains are clear of sediment to ensure all customers get the highest-quality water possible.

The City of Cranbrook will provide those in the impacted areas with regular updates as work progresses.
