Suspects Facing 19 Charges in Relation to East Kootenay RCMP Pursuit

The three suspects arrested in connection to last week's dramatic RCMP pursuit throughout the East Kootenay made their first appearance in court on Tuesday.

RCMP said the pursuit was the result of several vehicle thefts and carjackings as the suspects evaded police, forcing authorities to use spike strips and other extreme measures to apprehend the woman and two men.

All three suspects appeared in Sparwood Provincial Court on Tuesday.

The female suspect, Zara Morrison, was released on court documentation and will appear back in Sparwood Provincial Court on August 22, 2019. Morrison is facing two charges, PSP (Possession of Stolen Property) over $5,000 and Theft of a Motor Vehicle.

Meanwhile, Taylor Curl and Brendan Treacy are facing 17 total charges under the Criminal Code of Canada.

Both men remain in RCMP custody and will appear back in Fernie Provincial Court on Thursday, July 25, 2019.
