RCMP Confirm Fatal Collision on Highway 3 Near Creston

RCMP East Kootenay Traffic Services says one woman is dead following a single vehicle collision on Highway 3 east of Creston near the Walker Bridge by Erickson.

Investigations by RCMP indicate that the single-vehicle collision occurred close to 1:00 am PST about half a kilometre east of the Walker Bridge between Erickson and Yahk.

RCMP say a woman travelling eastbound in an SUV lost control of her vehicle for unknown reasons. The vehicle reportedly left the roadway and rolled several times before resting in a creek bed.

"Emergency Service was contacted, but the female driver was pronounced deceased at the scene," said RCMP East Kootenay Traffic Services.

RCMP added that the driver was travelling eastbound from Surrey.

East Kootenay Traffic Services along with ICARS personnel (Collision Reconstructionist) is investigating the cause of the collision at this time.

Drive BC reports that Highway 3 near the collision scene is single lane alternating traffic.
