The Kimberley Dynamiters' season came to an end in Richmond Sunday as the KIJHL Champions are returning home from the Cyclone Taylor Cup with a bronze medal.

After winning the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL), the Dynamiters entered the Cyclone Taylor Cup as one of the favourites but finished last in the round-robin standings after a pair of shutout losses.

Opening the provincial tournament Thursday, the Dynamiters would fall 3-0 to the Delta Ice Hawks only to bounce back with a 6-1 win over the Richmond Sockeyes. Needing a win Saturday to have a chance at advancing to Championship Final, the Dynamiters were crushed 9-0 by the Campbell River Storm, shooting them down to the bottom of the standings.

Seeking redemption after their biggest loss of the season, the Dynamiters would go head-to-head with Campbell River Sunday morning for the bronze medal.

In what was to be the final game of their junior careers for netminder Cody Campbell, captain Brett Roberts, assistant captains Nicholas Ketola, James Farmer, and Mason Palaga, and forward Colby Sherlock, the Kimberley Dynamiters got their revenge.

Despite falling behind 1-0 after the first period, the Dynamiters would explode with seven unanswered goals, including six in the second period, to claim the bronze medal with a 7-1 blowout win over the Campbell River Storm.

James Farmer would score a hat-trick in his last game in Junior while Brock Palmer led the Dynamiters with four points (2 goals, 2 assists). Devon Langelaar would also grab three assists in the win as goaltender Cody Campbell made 16 saves between the pipes for Kimberley.

Farmer was later named to the Tournament All-Star Team scoring 6 goals in the 4 games at the Cyclone Taylor Cup.

The Richmond Sockeyes would go on to win the 2018 Cyclone Taylor Cup as the host team, defeating the Delta Ice Hawks 5-1 in the Sunday's Championship Final.
