College of the Rockies Hires New Director of Teaching and Learning Resources

Brenda Mathenia will bring more than 20 years of experience and two master's degrees to the College of the Rockies.

The College says Mathenia will oversee the school's library services, educational technology, and the Production Support Centre. 

Her experience in leading change in a collaborative and supportive manner is expected to benefit staff and students alike.

"I'm pleased to welcome Brenda to this new role at the College," says VP of Academic and Applied Research Heather Hepworth. "The vision for this role and department is to create a centralized service for teaching and learning resources for students, staff, and community users. Brenda's background will support us in meeting the continually-evolving demand for technology-enhanced teaching and learning resources."

Mathenia has a master's degree in Science in Information from the University of Michigan and a Master of Urban Planning from Michigan State University. She also comes with 20 years of experience in academic libraries in Canada and the United States.

She was most recently the Chief Academic and Administrative Officer of the library and university archives at Thompson Rivers University.

"I'm delighted to be embarking on this new role at College of the Rockies and can't wait to get started," says Mathenia. "The merger of the service areas is one of the aspects of the position that enticed me to apply and I look forward to working closely with this exceptional group of individuals."

Mathenia started her job at the College of the Rockies on May 15th.
